Yum...
Triona and myself are away off to Nevan Maguire's (from the Telly and all the books) restaurant tonight for our supper - courtesy of Dave and Majella (thanks guys). It's called McNeans Bistro, and it's over in Blacklion in Co. Cavan.
I'll post a blow by blow shortly :) (I'm salivating already)
Update: OK ok - I got some spellings wrong it seems. It's Neven Maquire's and the restaurant is called MacNean Bistro.
The food was as good as expected and lives up to the hype. There must have been 5 or 6 courses, all excellent. The place is cosy but comfortable. The staff were excellent. The accommodation was being renovated and we were told our room had just been finished that day. Our room was not fully furnished but was spacious and I'm sure when complete it will be lovely.
Breakfast was excellent (you must have the porridge - it's got booze in it!) and our order was taken by Neven himself, who was very friendly and jovial.
Needless to say we will be returning here again. I can't recommend the place enough. Thanks again to Dave and Majella for the gift.
Last week
Had a great weekend last with my foster kin - Paul came home to Roscommon town for a flying visit so we all got together to make the most of it. Sorry - no pics yet (Triona forgot the camera yet again). Will post some though when Clive and Paul forward them.
On a side note - The Central bar has gone to the dogs (actually that's a slur on dogs - they don't smell that bad). Gleesons guest house is the business - probably the best place to stay in town. Most shops in town now have sliding doors (I know you are probably saying what's wrong with that - but come on, this is Rosommon I'm talking about - it's just plain weird and even a little sad).
T'was good to be back though.

Recent Rugby
Diarmuid's team had a match last Saturday against St. Mary's from Dublin. It ended in a 7 all draw (7 tries each that is). The club put on food and a big TV so we could all watch the big match (Ireland v England) together afterwards.
Diarmuid leaving a trail of destruction after him on one of his mazey try scoring runs (he was on fire!)

Glendalough
Tim and myself had a training hike for the Trek Scotland event (don't forget to donate!!) last weekend in beautiful Glendalough, Co. Wicklow.
We trekked about 17km through all sorts of terrain including snow!
All in all it was a great trek and a supper way to get over St. Patricks day. Really looking forward to Scotland now.

Snow Day!!
It's amazing how this country goes to pot when we get even the slightest smattering of snow. Cars in ditches, schools closed and general chaos everywhere! Still it looks nice. Here's a few pictures from my walk with the dogs from this morning:
Big bird
Strange looking cows me thinks
No dogs allowed
I'm not sure if Kipper's paw is cold or he's ready to pounce
More snow on the way
